Hifonics really that overrated?

Anyone know why the Viper 1200.1 is all refurbed? I mean if the amp is so good, why are they all refurbed. What went wrong with them?

Thanks for the link to the Orions. I dont believe I will have $300 for an amp for a while. The amps I were looking for is for $240 and below.

Are the Hifonics amps any different than any other amp rated at 14.4? All companies should do what JL did in this ad.

So according to Snova 31 the amp was

1150 @ 12.5 volts

my guess is that the after that was

1325 @ 13.45 volts

and

1500 @ 14.4 volts

I just want to see factual arguements with this. No one has proof that it puts out under its rated output power. Where are the facts and how do you know? I have searched several pages and all I hear is opinions. Maybe you all are jelous of the price and looks of the amp? Just an idea, dont get all bent out of shape. Its just a discussion

from the amps we have tested, all are done at 13.8v....any amp that says it should do 1500 watts at 13.8v should do that at least, and prefer to add some on top of that actually...helps the name, then you'd be known to be 'overrated'...

Just for clarification, I am not picking on it, nor jealous by any means...but if you can get a JBL 12001 or another amp, that will do the power for about the same price, there's really no reason not to suggest that amp.

Never intended that you were picking on it or jealous of it. I just dont understand why so many people dislike the amp. I have yet heard about one Hifonics Brutus burn up except for user error and the user admitted to it. I never saw any facts.

The problem is as soon as the subs coils heat up the impendace will shoot up, second everytime a note hits your voltage is being drained very rapidly.

On a real 12V system and a reactive load you wont be seeing anywhere near that amount.
