Hifonics put to the Chopping Block! Amp Test Tuesdays!

No. Peak is a useless inflated number. RMS is power that your amplifier is actually making.
I thought meade said that peak and burst rms are different.

The RMS on this amp was about 1200-1400wrms

The "burst" RMS was like 1800wrms.

wtf is going on?

1200-1400 was a 10 second sine wave that dropped the voltage a lot and put a lot of strain on the amp.

1800 was a quick note, i.e. bass drum hit

Shark! I will send him my shark 2500. Basically an apsm 2k, but I wonder if there any differences in quality of components. Lol @ quality.

Pretty impressive numbers at .8, I wonder what I would be seeing on music wired to .7 with rise on 14v. Also how does an amp with 140a of fusing pull 2k? Never understood that.

Fuse can draw around 1.5x of their rated amperages for shurt bursts just fine. It's just when you try to pull 1.5x over longer times that it blows.

So like when I used to have a jbl bp600.1, I ran it at .7 on three twelves. After a while it would pop the two 30a fuses. I replaced them with 40a fuses and never had a problem. It got warm but not hot. Had a good heatsink. I bet it was doing over 800w, sure sounded like it.

I always wondered that too also wondered if anl fusing or maxi fusing on the amp would make it handle more power , i did some reading up tho , if you use better quality transistors , resistors , capacitors that handle higher voltages , etc , heatsinks with more fins , the amp can handle more output in some instances as long as its properly cooled
