hifonics protection probelm

hey what's up guys? Im desperate to hear my sub pound(15" type r), but i can't

cause my hifonics amp(the one in my sig) goes into protect when i turn off the

head unit. the sub makes a loud thump when i turn it off then it's off into protect.

the only way i can get the amp out of protect is to unplug the hifonics' rcas and

then i turn on the headunit, then the light is in green an then i plug my rcas back

in. but when i turn off my headunit it makes that loud thump and goes back into

protect.

-please help out a brother, this is f*cken annoying.

hmm, Im no tech rep but that sounds like a problem with your head unit

oh i forgot. i also have a 4ch audiobahn amp. well it was fine until one day one speaker wire from the amp was unplugged accidently and the power and ground made contact with the chasis, and made a weird noise in all my speakers including the amp. and that's how it started. i was able to fix the problem by taping the speaker wire. but not the hifonics. i opedned up the hifonics and everything looks ok to me. i don't know about audio but i've seen those messed up amps with the melted internals.

Do you have the remote wire from the HU hooked up to the amp?

The HU should be killing power to the amp when it shuts off (through the remote wire). Also the amp should come on when the HU is turned on. Most amps have a delayed turn on feature for this reason. When the amp and HU are powered up there can be a surge on the RCA's, the amp waits a couple seconds before fully powering up to prevent damage to itself or the speakers.

could have damaged ur HU when u made that short if it never did it before, it doesnt come back out of protect mode even after having ur car tunred off for a few sec?

Sounds like you have a bad ground in your HU. Is it a pioneer?

yeah i have the remote from both amps to the HU(one wire for both amps)

yeah it's a pioneer. how can i find out if my HU is damaged?
