Ok, before everyone flames me about a repeated message, PLEASE read! I have this amp (bx1500D) for about 3 weeks hooked up to 2 Audiobahn alum12q. For 3 weeks this setup SLAMMED then one day anytime the bass got loud or certain notes hit on punk songs (with FAR less bass) the amp would go into protect mode and not come back on until the car was turned off/on. There are two lights on the amp, one power and right beneath it, one protect. The light that turns on is the power light (the top one) I had my voltage and every checked, it is hitting at 1.5 ohms and getting PLENTY of voltage to the amp. The RCA's are fine and everything else. The subs will hit forever when the volume isn't turned up but as soon as it goes up, subs go out.. PLEASE HELP!!!!! Thank you!

is it overheating? that might cause it

also check the wires on your sub because if its not conducting or badly conected that amp has a protection curcut in it. I know someon e can into the shop today and thats what was wrong with his Hifonics, so check it out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sorry, I forgot to add that it is NOT over-heating at all. It is wired in parallel I believe, the shop checked that out too when I brought it in. They also checked to see if either sub was blown, but obviously they're not!! This is mind-boggling!! HiFonics is pissin me off with their customer service as well!

ask for john w in the tech dept. he was a great help to me and my amp. i found out it was a blown crossover on my comps. seriously ask for him by name. i did. i bugged this guy for days and he was more than help and very pacient with me. the best customer service i ever recieved

same thing happend to me when i turned the bassboost up...when i turned the volume up the sub went out...it happend a couple of times to me and i didnt know what was happening so i kept turning the volume up and down...then finally the amp went into protect mode and never came back...sent it back and got it replaced...never found out what was wrong but i think i blew the amp...maybe sending the amp to much voltage...hifonics is build like crap...

im getting rid of mine and getting a eD nine.1 real soon...

The gain is set like at a "6" on a scaled of 1-10... I forgot what the bass boost was, I never touch those things, I let the professionals do it. What is the number to contract John in the tech dept?

Well I finally called HiFonics again and INSISTED I return the amp and they told me since I got it off Ebay, they will not take it back. So I called the seller on Ebay and they told me to return it with a $15 money order and they will send me a new one, no questions asked. HOPEFULLY the new one will work better, or I might just sell it!! WHO KNOWS!!

Any Ideas on a similar amp that can give me 650-700 watts when at 1.5 ohms? SIMILAR price range but more reliable?

Hopefully, I let the pros hook it up, I never touch the settings unless I know what I am doing. The only possible thing it could be they said is the amp is detecting the subs starting to go. I tested EACH sub with the amp, it did the same thing it did as if 2 subs were hooked. Hopefully I can go back to pounding like it was with the new amp, even though its gonna be a bit#$ to unhook and re-pack the remote bass knob!!!

Check all your wires..I had a hifonics amp, and it did the same thing...So I switched amps and it was fixed.......O wait...Its back....It was the stupid remote wire grounding out.....

hifonics is build like crap...

im getting rid of mine and getting a eD nine.1 real soon...
Hifonics is far from crap. Look at their board and compare it to a company of equal price and reputation…But yes, the ED amp is better...Hell..its $100 more
