Hifonics BRX 2400.1D and 1 Alpine Type R 12" SWR12D4 would this et up work? I think ti would be a little too much power? The Type R is rated at 1000W RMS. What should I wire it to so it doesn't over power it?

Just wire it to 1 ohm and turn the gains down.

Just because the amp CAN do 2400rms doesn't mean it can't be turned down.

assuming the model number is correct and it is a d4 as in dual 4ohm coils, wire it parallel to 2ohm so the amp will put out 1600ish watts. and turn the gain down. I used to feed 1200 to one a while back safely.

Yeah dual 4ohm voice coils what meter should I se to see how much watts are going to the sub?
