Hifonics Amp

Also It seems like my old alpine 500w is louder than the hifonics at 800w =/ And when I touched my cone after playing for like 45 min pretty much full blast it was warm to the touch.

your cone is warm with the alpine or the Brutus? if the alpine was louder and the Brutus is making that cone get warm you may have a blown coil(assuming that you are using the same sub and enclosure).

Well with the alpine it used to get slightly warm but with the brutus at 800w it was warm. This is a type r 12" btw Never saw smoke ever or smelled anything coming out of my port.

Why would he have a blown coil?

If the cone is getting warm, or more than likely the dustcap, it is the coil heating up. Meaning you are running too much power, or clipping your amplifier. Or both.

Sorry I probably should have givin my reasoning...lol. If he has a coil that is opening up on a dual voice coil then so his one voice coil would would get more power( for example if he has a duel 2 sub and wired to 1 ohm he is getting 800 RMS to each coil if one coil is open the amp is seeing 2 ohms and feeding the one coil 1100 RMS over powering the voice coil) Though just a shot in the dark:)

I run a BXi2608d on two 10's and is running 2-0hm, so doing around 1500rms or so and my lights don't dim at all.

I say it is probably a bad ground or could be weak electrical.......but I have an ST Focus and a pretty small alty and all I did was use 0g wiring and have a redtop up front and a powermaster 5100 in the back.

So if you redo the ground and positive it is good to go and still dims......odds are you need to beef up the electrical.

Well I have a dual 4 type r, how could I tell if one of my coils is dead? I don't hear any noise when i push in my sub and what not. I have been having some RCA grounding issues before, could that make just 1 coil work if 1 rca is bad?

Meh, hifonics amps are not very efficient from my experience

but why not just relocate your ground to a better place regardless

its not like it'll cause it to get worse...
