Hey everyone, Im trying to find a solution to being able to keep my stock HU in a my 2000 silverado. (no onstar, no bose, no steering controls.... stock delphi radio) I was thinking of using a hi/low adapter so that I can add an amp, and then I was going to use USA spec Ipod interface to use my ipod.... my stock HU does have an aux button....crutchfield says it will work if it does have that button...

my question.... will the IPod interface continue to work if I splice in before it with the hi low adapter to the rear speaker outputs?

questions? Answers please? anyone? ....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Hmmm...well, I HAD a '99 Silverado (has since gone to truck heaven) with a Delphi radio...I didn't have any amps to start with but did get an iPod adapter module to be able to listen to an iPod. Honestly, whether you use an adapter like I did or a combination of that and/or the aux input, the sound quality really sucks. And if you are going to add an amp, guess what, that is just going to amplify the suckiness. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I'd strongly recommend that if you are adding an amp, get an aftermarket HU. They are really not that expensive and most have iPod interfaces built in. You will not be disappointed and you will save yourself time and money in the long run. Plus, it won't sound like shit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Hmmmm... could be.... but dont forget that Im going to use a Hi/Low adapter to turn the signal to my amp into RCA's... the adapter has adjustments to flatten the signal.... which means that the amp will make it clearer and brighter.... Am I wrong in my thinking?

just bought it... its made by peripheral..... the other thing about the HU is that in my silverado its 1.5 din.... very hard (good quality) unit with the options that i want to find.... plus Im a firefighter who lives in miami and works in the hood most of the time... I want to keep what I have incognito if you know what I mean...

Yeah, Peripheral was what used intially...liked it for about 1 week and then I decided to start getting a bit more serious. My system is not exactly earth shaking like some of da boyz out here in CA land, but it works for me, sounds great, and did not cost me an arm and a leg. It's also pretty common for aftermarket HU's to have removeable faceplates.

I guess I'd suggest you give it a try unless someone else has any experience doing what you are planning to do. But I think you will be back asking us for HU recommendations. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I hope not.... Ive had Ipod adapters before.... I had I believe it was "DICE" in my Audi, and i thought it was incredible....

and as far as the pins... PLEASE!!! that would be great.... and on that note...

By the way....

I need to hook up my remote wire to ignition.... where in the ignition to I splice it in... what color is the wire

The DICE worked really nice.... Im using the USA (something) integration..... It has really great reviews from what Ive read.... Like I said continuity is important to me... I dont need to come out to the truck in the morning getting off duty, and find my window smashed in and my truck stripped....
