Hey guys!

Yeah that is a crazy deal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You have an awesome friend.

And HU installs are cake. We can help walk you through it and save you some money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That would be amazing! I got the system installation price. It was like 50$ for the head not including the kid. 80$ an amp, 40$ per pair of speakers, 60$ for subs. that all comes to a **** ton. So IDK what to do :/

Lol there is a lot of knowledge on this forum. We can help you with the install; depending on how comfortable you are with taking your car apart, the amps would probably be the trickiest thing.

If you order a HU from Sonicelectronix or crutchfield, they usually include the mounting kit and harness (which saved me $30) so that's something to think about.

Do some research on installing stuff; crutchfield.com has some helpful videos. Time for me to sleep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif If no one has laid out the basics by tomorrow morning/afternoon I'll explain how the installation of stuff usually goes; by no means do I know everything but I'll do my best to help you out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Mmkay so:

HU install usually consists of

-joining wires of new HU's harness to adapter harness (soldering is best)

-mounting new HU in kit with screws

-removing old HU

-plugging RCAs into new HU

-routing USB/iPod/aux. cables from the back of new HU to glovebox, center console, wherever you want them

-mounting kit w/new HU in car, plug adapter harness into car's connector

-done

I am absolutely certain you can do this yourself. Amp install is more complicated:

-Run new fat power wire from battery through a rubber grommet in the firewall, route to desired location in car

-Fuse power wire near battery

-Run RCAs to desired location, away from power wire

-Run speaker wire from desired location to doors/subwoofer, away from power wire

-Get speaker wire through doors - you can either run the new speaker wire through the rubber boot into the door, or tap into the stock speaker wiring just before the door.

-Mount amp using screws or velcro or straps or magical wizardry

-Ground amp to chassis (or back to battery)

-Connect everything (using distro blocks if multiple amps) tune amp

-Put car back together

The hardest part of installing an amp is usually figuring out how to pull the car apart. Since yours is an 88, things should be significantly easier. If you do choose to try it yourself, we can help you if you have questions. Forums for your car are a very valuable source of information when attempting these things.
