So I recently bought an Empeg head-unit. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, its a linux based 1" din car stereo that only plays digital audio. Simply put, it has two laptop hard-drives in it for a huge music library that has some real nice sound to it.

Anyway, I'm installing this to my 4th gen Camaro.

I'm looking for a good 4 channel amp but simply dont know the differences between brands. For speakers, I'm veering towards Polk audio simply because I liked how they sounded at a local store.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

could you be a bit more specific? Tell us your budget, goals, music preference, acoustic preference etc. This way we can help more easily.

Why absolutely. Sorry about that.

Music preference is rock. I want a strong, very clear system that can let me hear the nuances of "Dark side of the moon" and rock out modern stuff.

Simply put, something to make a musician happy.

Strong low-mids, ample bass that doesnt overpower with a high crossover, clear mids and highs should do the trick.

For the sub, I was thinking a MTX Thunderform box with a single 10".

And if anything, a sub that can work in the hot, Southern California climate without failing.

I'd say pioneer prs720 but i'm a bit biased lol. Some other popular choices are cystal ssc's, rainbow sl265, rainbow cmx (these'll work very nicely with rock), boston acoustics pro60

If you want to step it up a notch, theres rainbow germaniums, mbquart qsd, boston acoustics z6 etc.

the ones i listed have good clarity up top and great midbass (not enough to mask the midrange)

also what are you looking for in the subbass catagory? do you want a loud system that'll rattle the he ll out of everything or a nice sounding setup that'll reinforce the lowend and blendin well with the front stage?

As for amps, i'd look into massive audio stuff (very small compared to similarly rated amps and are built very well)

good luck

Thanks for the help. I'm checking all of those products out. I also saw some Diamond Audio D661i speakers that caught my eye. Not bad power rating and price. I also like the separated tweeter.

For sub-bass, I want a sealed, nice sounding setup that will reinforce the low end and blend in with the front stage... like you said lol.

So the ideal setup is 4 6.5" speakers powered by one amp, and 1 10" sub powered by a separate amp. Im going to try like hell to hide the system. I dont have a garage.

You mentioned MB Quart, are their products good?

all the ones i listed are component sets so like the d6 comps, the tweeters are seperated. Also by 4 6.5" speakers, i assume you are putting two upfront and two in the back. What i would suggest is to not get any rear speakers, because they can take away from the soundstage.

As for subs, since you are more of an sq type of person, i would look at subs from image dynamics, diymobileaudio, jl w6, (i personally like the jbl gti II subs, very nice sq with output to boot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)

also mb quart components, especially the higher lines have very nice clarity. I found the tweets on the qsd very sharp, revealing and detailed. However, they are a bit harsh for my taste. They don't have very strong midbass but it's sufficient.

I have a couple cousins who work for Image Dynamics building speakers. I could call in a favor.
As for Massive amps, thanks for the word. They seem really nice.
if you can get the id stuff cheap than definately go that route, their chamelean and horn comps are very nice.

also massive make some really nice stuff as you've seen. I love my p800.4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

good luck

Question though, how hot does your amp get? Will it be able to handle 100+ degree weather?
