OK guys I have been browsing for a few weeks and I decided to join the forum. I am currently undecided on a sub setup right now I have 2 12" CVR's in a Sealed box and a KX350.2 pushing them which is way under powered I know...

So what I want to do is get one L7 to take up less space, and I really like the way sealed sounds, so I want to do a sealed box. Now im trying to figure out which would be better for me... I listen to Death Metal, Rock, all of that and some rap, and my Jeep I just installed a 136A Altenator for extra stuff in the truck like my air compressor for the rear locker and my subs... Any input would be appreciated.

Do I really need to use 1/0 Gauge wire on the ZX1000.1? That is one of my main concerns. The 750 only requires 4G

12" L7 Sealed box

ZX750.1 Amp

Power Acoustics 2F Cap

- OR -

15" L7 Sealed

ZX1000.1 Amp

Power Acoustics 2F Cap

Now I know Kicker under rates the amps and the 750 comes with around 9-930 watts and the 1000 near 1200 watts, so I figured that would make up for the loss of power becuase its a sealed box.

Now here are the boxes im looking at I am thinking these are my best bet..

15" http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=3515

Do you know if the L7 is a good sub for what im thinking of doing? Anyone know if those boxes will work ok?

All and any input is appreciated and if you know of any other things I should be aware of I would love to know!

Do you think the 15" L7 will hit hard and fast still being a 15? Is 1000 watts too much since my other speakers are not amped?

Thanks

- Geno

i run my zx1K on 4gauge and it has no probs. the amp will come with a 100amp fuse also. instead of using a capacitor, you can do the big 3 upgrade and not worry about dimming or anything. the alt will be fine. if you go with the 15L7, try to find maybe a zx1500.1 or something similar. ported would be the way to go and i hear that L7s dont like sealed boxes a whole lot. im sure youll be fine if made right though.

Can the 15" L7 Handle 1200 Watts? I mean, the ZX1500.1 will do 1200W at 2Ohms, Or I could get a Dual 2 Ohm sub and have it take 1500 watts because the ZX1500.1 will do 1500W at 1 Ohm..

IM just afraid of blowing up the L7

in my opinion, you got the wrong sub for rock and the such

for rap, i wouldnt hesitate to reccommend the L7, but on rock, L7 isnt the best you could do, and a sealed box is killing it alot

I'd port it. The 1000 will be fine. I listen to metal as well (Shadows Fall, All That Remains, etc..) and enjoyed the ported 10" L5s I had a while back.

If you keep the 4ga short enough, you should be okay. If not, you can get 1/0 pretty cheap these days if you look around.

If you want help building the box, I am in CT and would have no problem helping you out.

Good luck.

Not to sound like a dick, but from what I have been reading the L7 is like an amazing SPL sub, so wouldnt it being in a ported box make that happen? I mean, all I see is L7's in big 3 Ft ported boxes tuned around 33-38HZ... Either way Im in love with Kicker, so im sticking with them.

I have noticed they came out with a new one called the CVX, is that anything I should look into?

I just like Kicker products.. And I hate mis matching things.

I know that sounds dumb, but I have 2 Kicker Comp VR's right now and I love the way they sound, so I figure an L7 will be even better.

What about the CVX?

It will take 1200w with ease, as long as the signal is clean. I have a 2500.1 on my single L7.
