A book is just that....a book. Its a bunch of words put together in an inspiring/motivational/persuasive way to get you to believe views of others. This is why they call them stories. Stories are make believe, like most things in the bible. I need to make a book about you needing to give me money because I came back from the dead, and let people put nails in my hands on a cross and my dad being too self centered to save me. Yes I know the "crucifiction took place before he rose again" but whos to say ANY of it happened? Its all made up, its another media hype that if you don't follow you are an "outcast". I don't see people opening up bookstores for the aethiest, with literature to secure their thoughts on why there should be no religion. I bet you money that all you christian (gullable) people would be on the phone with the city council trying to have it over thrown and closed down as well. IF it even made it through the process that allows the company to be publically opened in face to the general public.
I cant grasp the idea of someone up above far beyong any cloud or solarsystem known to man, invisible to all can run my life every day for every second I breathe. I can't grasp clutching my hands together to talk to someone I will never see, you dont have to do that to talk to deceased family members. Do you? That brings up another question, answer me this....Can you talk to the deceased? No. You can't. You may want to think they can hear you, and that they are looking over you, but they aren't. The only thing they are, is remembered and buried under 6 feet of dirt.
It's far beyond "just going to church". They rofit from your ignorance, and you gullable enough to believe stories that you would laugh at histarically if you heard it with someone elses "name" in it. What if I were to tell you that one of your old friends rose from the dead 3 days after his death....that everyone in town witnessed, only to dig out of the 6 feet worth of dirt he was under? Would you still be on a serious note with your hands flailing, eyes closed, screaming praise your best friends name because you feel something so miraculous has happened that you are in the presence of some higher power? I think not.
You have much malice towards religion in general, it's more than easy to see. I'm not disrespecting, i honestly want to know what has sparked this hatred for it? Once again, I'm not trying to prod and not being sarcastic, i just want to know why you vehemently dislike religion.
As far as it being a book. Yes, it is a book. As you can see or feel, it is printed paper bound by glue or staples in a certain order made to make sense and be read. The difference between this Book and the other books is that it has sparked a worlwide epidemic. It has moved people, it has healed people of their mental instabilities and brought men to their knees. It has scared empires and made men seek it out. It is not the Book, but it's message that is held within the books that are important. You hand me a Bible, I see a message, not molecules bound togeher by the science it is using to exist. I see the message that, when used properly, has no possible way of harming a man, but only helping this man understand himself, and helping this mans' life out. I see it as a calming ocean versus the agitated surf that is known as society, a constant if you will. Your parents are supposed to be a constant, if they are not, usually your life is a torrent of strife.(Note usually).
You can argue a gullible aspect to it, and for the mindless sheep who do not question it, I thoroughly agree. I am not one of those mindless sheep. never have I given money to the church without my 100% will, and never will it happen. it is NOT SUPPOSED to be like that. I took 4 years off of my religion when I wanted to blame it and abandon it, to search my soul and for answers my mind was not open to. It was an awakening experience. I found that my original religion was not to blame, and I realized it's truth, rather than just living it because it was familiar. You can atleast honor that, can you not?
As far as the up above thing. It is a faith. That simple. I treat my love as a faith, I am being faithful to my girlfriend. You have to believe. If you do not want to believe and do not have the capability to do so, you will not. Plain and simple. There is no argument, it is a truth. I as well as anyone ina religion should respect that, as long as you can respect our beliefs to the point of not insulting them in malice.
If you were attempting to compare talking to the dead to talking to praying to Jesus, or God, that is null. God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are a trinity, but at the same time one. Jesus was the Son of God, but at the same time a part of God. therefore even in death Jesus is still a part of God, created by God. They are all an extension of the same being. It is said so in the Bible, and obviously there is no truth to prove that. Once again, faith is your choice.
As far as you saying about your friend. No, I would not laugh at it. It is easy to say that it could be of the Faith. If he could do that without faith, then the argument would be unavoidable as it is a direct conflict. As far as I know, minus basic science truths, that has not happened.
And as for the profit situation, I have never gone to a church that uses 'gullibility' as a sales point. In fact, the pastor who owns the church only uses money that was in time of need, and his wife supported a majority with her nursing. If you call him a bum, they met at a Bible college and she knew her future life with him before they married, it was solely her choice. He built his own home, out of wood in the lanf they bought and with help from friends of the church. The man is a true renaissance man if I ever saw one! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Anyways, he is an honest man and never requires a penny from the church, but we give it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I hope this helps, and once again, I'd love to see your reasoning for malice towards the Word,
