Heres a religion thread that will piss a lot of you hippies off

I think religion is pointless.
A lot of religious people spent so much time praying and going to church and then, on top of that, they give THOUSANDS of dollars to their church!!!!

PEOPLE, if there WAS a GOD, HE or SHE would want you to LIVE your **** LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have three main reasons why I dont believe in any "god." If you are religious you may not want to read.

1. Its fiction. I know a lot of religious people who say that Christianity is the only "real" religion. Islam, Hinduism, etc. is all fake. Well, which one is real? How do you even KNOW Jesus existed? Jesus could be a fairytale charachter thought up by some marijuana using hippy who just so happened to write it down. Wouldnt that just be funny?

2. Priests raping boys. I dont think any explanation is needed.

3. I believe in science. If you saw the Hubble Deep Field (yes, look it up) I bet your religious beliefs will be dampened. In a square area, 1/5 the size of the moon, the Hubble telescope absorbed all of the light it could from only that area for many days. It generated an imaghe that contained thousands of galaxies. In each one of those galaxies, there are hundreds of thousands of solar systems. In each solar system, there are planets just like ours. If there was a god, why would he or she even give a shit about our little worhtless planet? And where would "god" come from? Thats just coming up with an answer to life that poses another question.

If you agree with me, great. If you dont, go give your church more money.

i Didnt read the whole thread, but you must not know what hippies are. I think most hippies are pagan or athiest or whatever.

BTW-- of course i agree with you, its simple logic.

--Except for on one point, that jesus was thought up by a mj smokin hippie. I think it was made up by a bunch of tight *****, that wanted people to be good, its like santa clause for grownups. if your good, youll get good things...bleh.

How can he give us free will, an immense curiosity, and the intellegence to fullfill our curiosity and then punish us when we do stuff "bad"

You cant expect us to go on blind faith all our lives that we should follow a certain set of rules. "or else"

Well, if you had actually studied nearly any religion, you'd have an answer for that. God created us all to worship him, but when Eve (and Adam) ate the fruit, we gained knowledge of evil. It wasn't God's original plan for us to do bad things, but he didn't want us to be mindless drones who can do nothing but worship him, because it's impossible to TRULY love something when that's all you can actually do and you have no choice.

It's quite easy to see why you can be held accountable for your actions, he left a guidebook for you, all you have to do is read it.

Wars have been fought over religion, do you really think god is happy about this if he exists?

I can't see him punishing us for not worshiping him, when there is no good

proof that he exists, especially when we are built to question everything we are told, thats what makes humans so great, and so evil at the same time.

Its called unconditional love.
