I have an air horn setup installed on my truck. I have the horns wired off the stock horn but ran them through the upfitter switch off a relay so that the horns only sound off the steering wheel horn when upfitter switch #1 is on, when in the off position only the normal stock horn works. I installed a Pioneer in dash Navigation system about 1 year ago and added a JL stealthbox with a JL 500/1 amp. There was a leak on my air horn setup so I had it disconnected off the negative terminal on the battery for about a month so I would not have to listen to the compressor go off for 5 minutes every morning at start up. I recently fixed the airhorns and re-connected the ground to the battery as initially installed.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed the volume on my truck would randomly get more quiet, and also would sometimes favor one side or the other - either passenger or drivers side speakers working only. I thought maybe the speakers blew at first, but on using the air horns I realized when I flick (on/off) the upfitter switch #1 which my horns are connected to, the volume comes up to full power and all speakers resume normal performance. Does anybody have any **** clue why this would be? They are not sharing any wiring - feed or grounds. Any ideas or ways to test for how to diagnose this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks
