ok i just got a new kenwood deck and 4 pioneer 4 way 6x8's and installed them but my lights(interior not headlights) are dimming! i believe this is because my cd player doesn't have enough wattage to power my speakers so i was wondering if getting a 4 channel amp would help? or possibly doing the big 3?any thoughts?

get a feed straight from your battery. you obviously tapped into hot wire shared with lights and system is draining it. also use a seperate ground.

x2 A four channel amp would work but for the same reason as above, you would running power from the battery for the amp. BTW It has nothing to do with head unit wattage, less power will never increase dimming, the hu can probably drive your speakers just fine but just can't get enough power due to the shared electrical, unless you really want them to bang I'd say forgo the amp.

yeah pretty much from the + terminal on the battery to the 12v terminal on the headunit. I'm surprised though, usually if you are using the main power wire that was going to the stock deck and have everything grounded right an aftermarket shouldn't be strong enough to cause dimming unless your vehicle has pretty poor electrical... Make sure you are using the right power wire and that you have a good ground, sometimes there are multiple ones...
