I had the same alt wine as you in a 1991 Honda Accord LX 4 door. I connected an 8 ga. cable from the battery to the power and cont. wire of the HU and problem solved.
The OEM power wire is abt. an 16 ga. wire, and the HU's power and cont. wire is abt. an 16 or a 14 ga. wire. Now, think of it this way, the flow of water flowing through pipes. If you have two 1 in. pipes (HU power and cont. wire) flowing into a 1 in. pipe (OEM power wire), the flow is cut in half. It gets even less when two 14 ga. wires flow into one 16 ga. wire. Get the picture. You might want to try this.
Hope the solves your problem, it did for me.
Oh yeah, by the way, you might want to upgrade the "BIG 3."
