Currently my equipment is as follows:

Kicker L3 10" DVC 2 ohm sub with enclosure, 800 max, 400 RMS

Sony xplod 1000w max amp, 2/1 channel

Dual head unit 200w max

My question is that i'm not sure how many watts my amp is putting out with my setup and what ohm load i have on it. I have my amp bridged into a mono channel from my one sub, The power level knob on the amp is set to 2 ( what i beleive to be ohms?) All kicker 4 gauge wiring....

Is this setup safe or what?

Well if you have the amp bridged your either running it at 1 ohm or 4 ohm. Do you know if it's 1 ohm stable? Does it have a specific model number you can give us so we can find the specs on it? (still talking about the amp)

Think it's only 2 ohm stable amp. But heres the model number and stuff...

Sony 2/1-Channel Xplod XM-GTX1852

Thanks!

That amp is rated at 400w RMS at 4 ohm when bridged. It is NOT 2 ohm stable when bridged and definitely not 1 ohm stable under any circumstances. If the sub's coils are wired in series then you have a 4 ohm load which is perfect.

Are you having any problems with the setup or just trying to verify it's wired correctly? Your amp would either be going into protect or just straight up dead if you had that sub wired down to 1 ohm so I think your fine.

Not sure how to tell if there wired in series bc i bought the enclosure with it, maybe it will tell me somewhere in the manual. But i'm just wanting to make sure i dont blow anything up after i just invested $600.

Also what does the little power knob control that on the amp, ranges from .05 - 6 i beleive....?

That is your gain knob. Who installed the system?

yeah, 250 on sub w/ enclosure, 100 on dask kit / wire harness, 150 on kicker wiring kit, 150 on amp, 90 dash unit so actually.... $740

I did myself? Lol
You say the sub was already in the enclosure when you bought it? Do you have a link or model number or anything for that?

The fact that you installed the system but don't know what the gain knob is tells me it's installed incorrectly. Take some time and browse this site: Basic Car Audio Electronics I know it's a lot of information but it's so incredibly useful. If you want to read about the gain knob right now skip down to chapter 63.

You paid a lot of money for only so-so equipment but everyone starts somewhere and if your happy with it don't let anyone else convince you otherwise.

All i've done is hook up the power / ground wire, fuse box, rca cables to amp, remote wire, head unit, and ran speaker wire to the sub so far...

yeah the sub came pre-installed in the enclosure...

I guess I should say "tuned" incorrectly. How did you set all of the settings on the amplifier? Subsonic, low pass, bass boost, etc.
