help with virtual big3

Its the same as posted above but I usually prefer to have the chassis grounded in one place instead of two.

A little OT but I saw someone mention two fuses on the ALT wire:

You would not need a second fuse on the Main ALT BATT + wire. A fuse near the battery is all you would need. The reason you fuse a wire is in case of an accident, any wire going from the battery should be fused and within close proximity to the battery. The reason for this is a wire that is 18' long going through your car has a very high risk of shorting in an accident. 0 gauge at a dead short with 1200CCA battery will make some nice sparks. The Fuse blows in case of a short and stop power within 1-2' of the battery.

Now in regards to your alternator. Once the engine stops, the ALT is not making power so it no longer is a source that is creating power. A battery, with the car off, still holds voltage. An alternator that is not spinning creates nothing and is storing nothing therefore the + BATT ALT wire needs no fuse close to the alternator. You could argue a point that the wire does get pinched and the motor is still turning, but I really think that would be very slim. I mean for the wire to be pinched and not effect the pulley system or alingment of the belt that drives the ALT would most likely be the result of poor wire routing more so then anything else.

This is another way as well assuming the terminal on the right side of the battery is the positive and the left is negative.

You dont intentionaly need to run a ground off a bolt on the alternator as the bracket the alternator is mounted is bolted the engine block. So you can essentialy ground off any decent bolt on the head. You want to keep your ground wires as small as possible also, when running your grounds make sure you check reverse resistance and the grounds are all zero'ed out.

Another advice would be to fuse the alternator charge line from battery to alternator with the correct size of fuse for the wire you will be using accordingly.

So ALT+ to battery NEG- and ALT- to battery POS+ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

you got the posts backwards

im on my phone so i cant draw on your but if you go ALT + to BATT +, BATT - to frame and then use an engine mount bolt on the underside of the engine to frame for a ground. its a little harder to get too but it makes the best ground. IMO

Its hard to tell, but it looks like a reverse terminal batt.

wouldnt you need a secound one though since the alt + has a live wire from the batt also
