Help with Unlocking a Kenwood DDX6019

Hello all! This is my first post so go easy on me! lol

I just bought a 350Z. Inside the car is a Kenwood DDX6019 head unit. When I turn on the car it prompts me to enter is a passcode (which I don't know). I bought this car at the auction - it was a repo so I can't contact the previous owner. How can I find out the master reset code? Or is there another way to reset the unit? Maybe someone knows it? Any help is appreciated!

Most head units I've used reset and clear their settings when they lose power. Try disconnecting your battery ground for a little while.

You most likely will have to send it in to Kenwood. Since you did not purchase the unit I would say go ahead and buy another radio.

if the disconnected the battery dont work then this will be your only option. **** that sucks. A friend a mine got his car repo'ed with 2 type r's and a kenwood amp. So that means somebody got a car n was beating! repo auctions can be nice, then sometimes you get sh!t like in your situation

The disconnected battery caused the problem. The Kenwoods have a security feature where if battery power is removed, the unit requires a password to be reactivated. Sending it in or taking it to a Kenwood authorized repair place are pretty much your only options.

There's a thread...somewhere on the 'Net...that details how to bypass the 4-digit security code on Kenwood HUs.

I've never needed it so I never bothered to save it to my faves but I know it exists.

Google 'Kenwood unlock code' and see what it spits out.

There's no need to send it to Kenwood and certainly no need to replace the unit altogether. As I recall it is a fairly simple procedure so see if you can find the thread that explains it. It was on another forum and I couldn't begin to tell you which one but I clearly recall seeing it before.

Strange, I have a Kenwood Excellon X491 and it doesn't have any kind of code on it. When I unplug the battery it resets all of the settings. The security code must be a feature of the more expensive HUs.

friends old kenwood had it. i believe you can change the passcode after it powers on buy i cant remember

I will post pics soon! The car just arrived to me on Thursday - still trying to get it all together. When it ran through the auction it was working - they even had a bunch of pics of the navi. I think the poster that said about the dead battery is right. The battery must have went dead and now its prompting for a passcode.
