Help with touch screen installation! Is this a bogus quote?

So I was looking around on ebay and I found a couple DVD touch screen players that are double DIN for a pretty cheap price. For instance the BOSS BV9560B 7" TOUCHSCREEN 2 DIN CAR AUDIO CD/DVD/MP3/FM PLAYER & BLUETOOTH which is on ebay for around $180...(NEW BOSS BV9560B 7" TOUCHSCREEN 2 DIN CAR AUDIO CD/DVD/MP3/FM PLAYER & BLUETOOTH 791489110495 | eBay)

So I asked a shop how much they would charge me for the install and they said they could cut me a deal and do the installation free but charge me for the parts. He said it would be $200 in parts...

I asked him what the exact parts he needed and I looked them up online.

A dash kit (double din) - I found this for $12.00

A antenna converter - I found for $10.00

A harness (he must mean wiring harness?) - I found for around $20

Now am I crazy here or is his price range insane? Am I missing a part or looking up the wrong parts?

EDIT: This is for me 2004 grand prix gtp btw...

Thanks for your help!

Just do plenty of research and buy the parts you need and do it yourself. Chances are whatever they charge you it will be fairly high, and won't actually be that difficult. Putting in a new headunit is a great way to learn about the wiring systems in car audio anyway, and as long as you do your research it's pretty hard to screw up. You can probably buy the right parts so it just clips in. Also, welcome to the forum!

The price he is quoting is so high because he is quoting you on the correct parts to use for this install. Not insulting you, but not many people are aware that this particular vehicle has a CAN-BUS computer system to run the stereo through. This means if you buy the $20 harness you will not only be running to the fuse box for your ign wire, but you will also loose some features. The correct harness is called a GMOS, if you use Metra anyway and it can be up toward 130 just for the harness. Will the cheap one work, of course. Just do some research on what features will be lost by using it. Unfortunatly if you have the BOSE system I dont believe there is any way around the expensive harness without a full system overhaul. Also you will more than likely not be able to get a shop to install the cheap harness as it is technically illegal in some states

I've looked up installation parts from Metra online and found things for less than my dealer cost. I doubt you actually found the right interface for $20, but no shop is going to make money price matching Amazon.com or other online retailers on those kinds of items.
