help with the ipod 2 go charger

i installed in my dads ram truck. the sound system is stock so is the head unit. and i installed this item i think its called ipod2go. but it hooks up in the back of ur deck so u can play ur ipod but it also charges ur ipod at the same time so i read the manual and said i had to push down 1 and 4 on a little box that charges the ipod so i did and i tested it it plays the music from the ipod except where it says how far the song is it switches to 1:00 to 2:00 and its hard to scroll the ipod down any suggestions wats wrong??
