Help with system install

Enlighten me,

Specifically what do crossovers and capacitors do. What applications are they needed or good for. How do you hook them up in a system?

Another question, my ride is a 1997 f150 standard cab. I have two 10's and they are in two seperate boxes. The boxes are about 15 inches wide a piece. I have mayme 20 inches max in between the boxes. I have the 22 inch amp and the 12 inch amp that I would like to mount. with this kind of space what would be the ideal way to mount them?

Also, toggle switches, where can I find some good cheap toggle switches and bass control knobs for my amps. Thanks ahead of time for your help. I may have more questions as my install gets more complicated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

ok a crossover is kind of like a cut off point that a certain frequency(you select like; low pass filter of high pass filter, ect). most amps have crossovers built in, and they are a good thing. Crossovers keep you from sending highs to your sub and lows to your tweeters.

Capacitors are used inline with your power wire right before it gets to your amps. Most people on here dont use them, they just upgrade their power system. But the idea of a cap is to store energy so when you have a big pull of energy the cap can recharge the battery.

toggle switches can be found at your local radio shack. and bass knobs you would usually get them from who ever made you amp.

Ah... I understand.

Another Question, My stock door panels have two seperate compartment at the bottom. the one farthest towards the front is perfect for a 6 1/2 inch speaker. I am going to cut out a hole and probably install a speaker grille. My question is, should I mold something to cover the opening and if so what should I use to do it with.

I will cut the hole in the panel and install the speaker as so. But there is still the hole above the speaker and the open space behind it.
