Help with Subwoofers.

Hey I am posting this in a couple sections so feel free to delete if this is in wrong section.

I have (had) 2 12" kickers 2ohm with a Hifonics 1210D. All was working good then someone stole my system. Well I got it back and took it to a installer. It worked good for about a week then one of my speakers stopped working. I ended up looking at it and the coils were burnt. So I am wondering before I go buy another kicker what caused it to burn out. Do you think it is the wire, to much power, or what. Speakers were only 3 years old. Thanks in advance.

I deleted one of your extra threads and then merged the other two since they had responses.

As for the issue there are a few things that will cause issues with coil burn.

1. to much power

2. clipping

3. enclosure

Man you guys reply fast lol. Yea it's cool that you deleted it. They were 2 12" kicker cvrs. Also with the clipping issue....if they were working fine for years and then all of a sudden stop working after this guy installed it do you think he did something or what? Thanks

There could be several causes for this.

1. Various settings not correct(installer issue)

2. Intaller error with wiring (bad ground or other connections)

3. You are turning the head unit past were the system was set to play at.

Both of these can generate heat build up at the sub-woofer.
