Help with sub please

I bought a 1200w pioner amp, and one 12" pioner, with scoche wiring. I paid some guy that been doing it for some time, and has a shop with there equipment and stuff lyk that. kk so after he gets all the wiring done, and gets the amp in the trunk of my car, We see if it works before we fully get it in there, it works, and it cracked the garages window even more is how loud it was, And then, when i get done the road the sub just stops pounding. I get home and i turned on Bia Bia, half way up and the sub aint moving at all, The Capacitator or w.e is on, and the amp is on, the sub is on also, And nonthing is broke in the sub or enything, shouldnt be atleast. But could this be caused by a bad deck? Cuz the deck is atleast 5yrs old. Please tell me whats wrong, before i start buying stuff i dont need

first check for power at the amp if it's there pull the sub and check the voice coils with a DMM, if I had to guess I would say blown sub most likely not the HU.

The thing is, it never got too loud, and it was working fine before i left the shop, And its only one day old.

And sorry im a newbie at systems, whats a DMM?

digital multi meter they have them at wal-mart or any auto store, it test voltage(ac/dc)/ohms and so on depending what model/type you get, also what model 12" is it and what model amp?

My amp is Pioner: Class D Mono Amplifier- GM-08500M. The subs is TS-W303R

Kk well im taking the woofer back, I looked at it this moring and noticed, that when i pressed on it, it made a scratching sound. So they blew, Would 2 10s be better then just the one 12?
