Help with sub choice and enclosure

I am currently running with a Cadence 12" FX 400 Watt Sub SVC 2 Ohm with a Kicker 08ZX300.1 Mono Amp .I want to upgrade the sub and hopefully have an enclosure made.

I plan on just running 1 12, but I need some advice on which sub( pref 500-600 rms) and whether to go with ported or bandpass??

I heard awsome things about SSA, Kicker, audioque , and Sundown Audio.

Any suggestions?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i vote AQ but ssa looks good but the lowest line runs 300w rms (which may be good if u push 400 or so to it) and the next step up is like 1000w rms.

i have AQ1200D amp and i love it, 100 degree weather its buried under subs and flat against carpet and has never even given me a hiccup

Ohhh, ok. 1000rms?? not quite yet, lol. I have to upgrade my big three before I push the 750rms level. Thats awsome, bc it does get pretty hot here as, well I like not haveing any problems as well. Im going to look into AQ and DC sounds as well. I still want to keep my one sub setup.

I have a mid size truck, so my guess is i have a better electrical system than a little honda or whatever. but im running the AQ1200D without touching anything, no dimming, no anything what so ever to even notice i have any extra car audio.

OHH really? You dont have any electrical upgrades to supprt that aq 1200d? 1200rms at 1 ohm? Thats the big stuff, lol. Im sure your truck is bad ***.

I just dont want to push my electriacl system to far. .

I have a 2006 Altima. I wanted to get a 15 instead of a 12, but I was told that the 15 will **** in my car trunk. He said they are a pain in the ***, and that it will block needed airflow. Which sucks since I did want a 15.

I have seen 15's in cars like mine, so I didnt exactly understand. However, im still learning, and its pointless to get something that wont work right. Do you think thats true as well?

I just setup my 1st ever 15 in a ported 3net cube box and it sounds real good! Low and heavy I'm impressed. But yeah in my 03 2 dr stratus it took a lot to get it to fit. This is on stock electrical running a MB Quart DSC 1500w amp.

Personally I would buy a 1000-1500 watt amp now and save yourself the troubles later on as you will be able to power most anything with the gains turned down while keeping the amp cooler and being able to upgrade speakers at a later time.

Thats awesome SpeedE. I like the low and heavy sound as well. Im sure its sounds great. But with my luck, im sure my stock alternator will die, if I get a 1000 watt amp. So I dont want to take it past 500 watts(amp)

Yea I have never had my gain past half way. What sub do you have?

I bought a Diamond D6 15" since I thought is was an ok deal for $150 and I was just getting back into the hobby and seems they compare to my old JL 12s3's that I had, but this thing sounds like 2 of my old 12's in a sealed box only hits lower.

So far from my DMM I have ~700w rms going through it, works fine on stock battery even with the car not running. Just added 2 gauge "Big 3" today, cost me like $15 from advance auto.

Ohhh well I can def, get my big 3 wiring upgraded then. 15 buck isnt bad at all, lol.

Nice setup, I think the D315.2 or D312.2 would be more my speed. I found a great deal on the Alpine Mrp 500 amp for $142. An that would be perfect for the D3.

I have to get a box made, but im not sure which sub to get just yet or what size. Looking at DC level 3, AQ Street duty, Kicker L5 & CVR, or the Apline type R.

I saw your page on car domain. Awesome performance mods.
