Help with sub/amp

I was thinking about going with the Alpine Type-X 12" along with Alpine MRD-M1005. I was juss reading a lot about the Type-X and I like sound quality more than sound quantity, I like loud, yes...but not too excessive I guess, but ppl say that this sub can deliver!

-Is this a good combo? If not, recommend me something that will be better for my money.

-How big of a sub box do i need? Ported or Sealed?

-0 guage wire good or is that just going overboard?

and will it sound better than a 12" Type-R in a ported box with this amp

do not get that amp lol. put the type x in a ported enclosure with the mrd-m1005 with 4 awg wire and you will be set.in comparison i hear the type r will be louder but it wont touch the type x in sq. type x is well worth the money and will get loud and sound awesome doing it

Dude, pyramid sucks straight up. And they want $279.00 for it. There trying to bend you over. For that money you can do much better. That type X is a good quality sub. Get you a good 1000w or more mono block amp. That sub is 1000w RMS 3000w peak. Don't be scared to give it a little power. You kinda have too, to wake it up and sound good. Pyramid bad idea, like putting a little 4 cylinder engine in a new corvette. It's just unethical. Good luck man. I think that would be a good combo. I really don't think you need 0 awg wire. 4 gauge will work just fine. But they do highly recommend on here to do the Big 3. Whick hopefully I'll get off my lazy butt and do it soon.

the alpine amp says it can do...

1000 watt @ 14.4V @ 2ohms

or

700 watt @ 12v @ 2ohms

whats the difference between the two voltages and does it matter?

and is there anything else i need besides wires and a box?

Usually your cars electrical system voltage output is 12v when its not running, and 14.4v when the engine is running. I have two voltage moniters, one on the bass control unit in the dash, and the other on the amp, they both always read 12v when the engine is not running, and 14.4 when its running, +/- .1v or so. Which is why if you really want to see how loud your stereo is, you should probly have the engine running.

And now for a box. Im a complete n00b to car audio or any audio so i have no idea what im doing. This is my first time. How big of a box do i need? And what should I tune it to?

a line out converter is used on factory head units to turn the speaker inputs into an rca input so you can plug in an amp. if you have a factory radio i suggest upgrading but if you have like an alpine or pioneer or any other aftermarket radio it should already have rca preouts and you wouldnt need the loc.

For the box size you should just read your owners manual on the sub you purchased. It will recommend the proper box sizes and tunage for sealed and ported. If it did'nt come with one go to there web site and download it.
