Help with some Subs

prefab ported boxes aren't a good idea, the whole process of tuning properly is too complex to simply buy a prefab ported box.

making a box isn't even that hard really, but it's your car, so w/e

btw when u buy a box, if u go sealed, get a box thats 2 cubic foot if u can. thats what jbl recommends for two of them

making a box isnt hard, but u have to have the tools and the space to do it is very helpful

Ok, so just make sure to buy the right configuration when wiring it. I should just be able to go into my audio store and they should hook me up correct

Edit: Klash ik, I was planning on making a box but I work 40 hours and go to school full time. I dont have time, and Dont necessarily have a need to build one ya know.

And the Box I was planning on ordering is 2.5 CF, That too much or still in the spec. Range

for buying it, or for hooking it up?

u wont find the amp i suggested at a local store, the subs maybe. if ur going to buy local, just ask them for their opinion

if ur just talking about hooking it up, installing it, they should know what their doing. just tell them wire the subs to 1 ohm on the amp

Ya Im ordering everything online, Just was wondering about the installation on wiring it to 1ohm on the amp.

And from what I am seeing you cannot wire a 4ohm sub to 1ohm? Only to 2 or .5 is what Im getting lol

Edit: Klash, is that going to hit as hard as 2 12 JBLs tho? Plus Idk if a 15 is gunna fit in my Trunk, IK a 12 will but a 15 is pushing it, anything with 2 12s?
What year Stratus?

I have an 03 coupe and a ported 15 will deff fit and get loud

BTW those JBL's are nice subs.

Basically if you went ported you could have 1 12 be just as loud as the 2x 12's sealed, but you may give up a little upper end bass(everything has a tradeoff)

you can wire two 4ohm DVC subs to 1ohm

but you've gotta have two DVC subs though

btw, one ported 15" sub would fit easy, here's about the size of the box you'd be looking at for it

I got a 01 Coupe, Trunk is huge, have only measured for a 12 tho, not for a 15. What do you suggest?

If you want LOUD I suggest ported. If you listen to lots of rock/metal and just want some bass then sealed is fine.

Once you get to a certain loudness, the less the box covers the trunk pass through the better SPL you get.

Anyway I had a single 15 in a ported box, absolute largest box that fits through the trunk(from the outside) is 29.5wx16.5Hx17D, good for a 15 in a slot port. I was impressed with the bass on ~1000w or less. It was also my 1st ported box(which I deff like since I listen to rap mostly). The roof was rattling since its like tin, lol, and side mirrors flexing.

Currently I'm going with 2x 12's ported, and to keep trunk space I'm on the very lower limit for box space, using space saving thinking. I did extensive deadening and am trying to get as loud as possible in small space.

For budget a single sub is normally cheaper than multiples

I know the trunk lids on the 01's are slightly diff, but people have swapped them so not too far off.

So there is no way that box will fit, I promise
