help with some 6x9 subs.

i would wire them down so u can use a 4ohm or 2 ohm amp and just run lower power through them... what kinda 6x9's are they?

You should wire them to 4 ohm and find a good 1 channel amp to power them. The other option would be to run them at 8 ohms each on a two channel amps but you most likely will not get the power your are looking for.

there dual voice coils, and the brand is tang bang (china).

i was looking at a 600watt mono amp at 2 ohms will this work?

running them together at 2 ohms would be the cheapest, but with such small voice coils you wouldn't spend too much more on a two channel.

Those 6x9 Tang Band subs are nice options for those who do not want a huge enclosure in the trunk of their vehicle. Granted, they go against the SPL grain of this forum, but they sound quite nice. I was first exposed to them by another member on a Civic forum and I must say, they do really well.

The only oddity that you may encounter is that they are an odd shape compared to most stock 6x9 locations and you may have to trim some sheet metal or make a baffle. Other than that, they are about as good as it gets for IB mounted 6x9 subs.

If **THESE** are your subs, I wouldn't recommend giving them more than 90 watts RMS each or 180 watts to the pair. I would recommend finding a small 2 channel amplifier that will give you 180 to 250 watts RMS bridged @ 4 ohms and call it a day.

^i got them in 6x9 boxes, and they sound pretty good but i only have them hooked up to a 200 watt amp and they weren't that loud so i was looking at a 600 watt mono at 2ohms, so i don't if thats too much. its a california amp so i don't know if the ratings are correct and i was guessin it would probably push 250 watts rms at 4 ohms.

You would wire them to 2 ohms. They can't go to 4.

If it's 180 RMS, a 600w mono amp at 2 ohms would work well, just keep the gains down and set correctly.

If it's 180 max, 90 RMS, you need something that will do around 200w RMS at 2 ohms, or so. Or 100 watts each to a 4 ohm channel, a two channel amplifier.

Also, tang bands are designed for IB, correct? Might be better off putting them in the deck.

All right what am I missing here? I thought the OP had a pair of 6x9s that were SVC @ 8 ohms each. If they are indeed the TBs listed in my link, they are SVC8 AND designed for IB use!

He said they were dual 8... If they're SVC @ 8, then well, different advice is needed. Rofl.
