help with runnig power wire..

hi i have a 97 mitsubishi eclipse..

i am goin to be running 0/1 gauge and it looks like i will have to drill from my engine bay into to the car..

does anyone have any suggestions as to where i should drill..? or where to run the power wire..??

well your at the right spot as far as running it through the fire wall. Run the power wire down the side of the car that your battery is on, most firewalls have some sort of holes already through them so you might not have to drill a fresh hole, but only drill a smaller hole bigger. Id also run my power wire down the side of my car oppisite as my rca cords are running down, just so you dont get any feed back through your stereo.

So check where your battery is (either passenger side, or driver side) and run straight on back from there. and if your rca's go down the same side, move them.

Id also tear out the molding panels by your feet, so you can pull the carpet back a little bit to see for any holes where you could run the wire through. but be carful not to wrap it up around your stearing colume at all.

well my problem was i can't a place to drill..

there are no current holes that i can see..so i would have to drill a fresh hole..

so i was wondering where would be the safeest place to drill....??

go to cardomain and look if any one has power. THere is always holes in ur firewall.

i actually couldn't find a hole big enough in my van...so I went through the grommet for the steering column...huge rubber thing - I sliced a little slit in the outer part of it, and slid the 2awg through...

another option you can try if your nervous about drilling is to run the line under your car. There are plenty of points where you can attach the wire so it won't come loose and drag on you.

I've done that on a couple of installs and always had good results.

Agreed, this is a good method if you dont have an existing hole big enough.

theres always a place somewhere on the firewall to drill a hole my friend has an eclipse with 0 gauge running but he ran his down the side of the door my other friend ran his under the car and zip tied it to his underside. Another kid also drilled a hole in between the brake and clutch and ran it through so theres always a way to get it through and i would say the best is drilling a hole then u dont have to worry bout draggin it or shutten ur door on it
