What would you guys say is the best and easiest way to figure out box cals based on the subs you use?

I.E. Watts MAX. Music Power 6000 Watts

Watts Nominal Power Handling 2500 Watts

Frequency Response 18Hz ~ 2kHz

Sensitivity 88dB

Ohm Rating DVC (1ohm or 4ohm)

Recommended Enclosure 1.5 Cubic Feet

Dimensions 327 (Diam.) x 304 (mm)

Mounting Depth 266 mm

1.5 cubic feet = ????? for L x W x D (but not in mm) This would be to make a box.

what about a trunk figerglassed for a 08 Mustang GT with 3 of these.

you will first need to figure out how much space you have to work with. it looks like the subs want 4.5cu' (3 x 1.5) that is pretty big for a stang...i mean it will fit but will probably have to go through the back seat. measure out the lenght, width, and depth of what you can fit and divide it by 1728, this will give you the cu ft. remember to account for the sub displacement and the thickness of the wood. if you using 3/4", when you measure you trunk out, just subtract 1.5" from each dimension, this will give you the internal box measurements.

Take 1.5 cuft, multiply it by 1728 = 2592 cu in. (x3 to get for 1.5*3)

Lets say you have a DEF height.... 15", and a DEF width of 30".... (Internal #s.....keep that in mind!)

So you experiment with numbers...

"I'll try the max first" Divide 2592 by 15 and then 30, that would give you the depth you need.

2592/15 = 172.8 then /30 = 5.75. So IF your box was 15" tall, and 30" wide, u"d need a depth of 5.75....to get 1.5cuft

Hope that helps somewhat.

Another tip, figure out how much 1" depth for the width/height u wanna use... (or 1" width for height/depth, 1" height for width/depth, vice versa.)

15"x30"x1" = 450/1728 = approx .26 cuin. Sooo....

15x30x10 = .26 * 10 = 2.6

15x30x15 = 2.6 + 1.3 = 3.9.... See where i'm going here? Simple algebra

15x30x16 = 3.9 + .26 = 4.16.cuft

ORRR just go to RockfordFosgate.com , they have a new box building feature. Haven't used it, don't need to but might help 4 u.

Here is another easy way to figure airspace. Go to Walmart and buy one of those yellow construction calculators(about 12 bucks). You can enter your measurements in Inches,feet,yards, whatever. Then you can convert it into cubic feet. If you are making measurements with outside dimensions subtract 20% of the volume that you come up with for your internal volume. i will give you and example using a regular calculator and with the construction calculator.

Box size-- 15 in ht.x 32 in wide x 18 in deep

15 x 32 x 18=8640 cubic inches

8640/1728=5 cu ft

5 cubic feet minus 20%= 5 x .8=4cu ft

internal volume is 4 cu ft.

To use that method all your dimensions need to be in inches but usually you have like 15 9/16 x 3 ft 3 3/8 inches x 18 1/8 inches

to enter that on the construction calculator and figure airspace do this

15(inches button) 9(/)16 x 3(inches) 3(/)8 x 18(inches) 1 (/)8 ( = ) the readout says 951.9873 cu in. to convert that to cubic feet hit(conv button) then (feet) button and the answer is .550919 cu.ft. subtract your 20% by multiplying .550919 x .8 and you get the internal volume of the box( using 3/4 mdf). .440735 cu. ft I just fell in love with this calculator because i don't have to convert fractional measurements to decimals to make calculations. It comes with instructions but is really easy to get used to and like i said is only about $12.

Um, that's terrible advice.

Look what google can do:

thanks i am thinking of these x3

TS-W5102SPL

Premier® 12" Component Subwoofer with 6000 Watts Power

2500 Watts Maximum Power

Pure Titanium Voice Coil

Interlaced Carbon Fiber Reinforced IMPP Cone

Suggested Price: $1,000.00

the main problem is i want to enclose about 3/4 of the trunk in a custom enclosure

not a box. so depending on the space i will have in the trunk. i wonder if that will work. so all the numbers above are based on a lot more measurements due to angles, heights, depths, and widths.
