Help with my decision

Hello all,

First of all, I am a total sound noob when it comes to stereos so try to cut me some slack for my ignorance. I am looking for a head unit that has best sound quality and sound tweaking for cheap (bang for buck, without taking gadgets into account). I have no need for anything fancy besides an aux input. I have been recommended a Eclipse cd3100(higher end but older) or a Sony-CDX-GT240 (lower end by newer). I want to know which one will sound better and have better tweaking.

Both will be running on stock speakers for now, nothing fancy.
