Help with Kicker amp and jl subs

I have a kicker amp its like a dx600.5 or something and 2 jl 12's. They worked perfectly one morning and then in the afternoon just stopped working. The power light on the amp turns on though, im not sure what the protection light means but i'm pretty sure the light turns off once a song plays. I hooked up my friends amp to my car and his kicker would just turn on and bump it and then turn off again, and then keeping doing it, I have not had a chance to test my amp so I am not sure.
