Help with Installation

So I have decided to buy two kicker l7 15's and a kicker zx1500.1 and install everything myself. I have done some research but am still a noob to car audio. Before I start buying all my stuff, I thought of a couple questions. I have upgraded the big 3 with all 1/0 gauge wire. For the power wire I will use running from the battery to the amp, what gauge of wire should I go with based on my system? Also, I already currently have a crappy amp and 2 subs in my car. Can I just use the same remote wire and RCA cables in my current amp for my new kicker amp? For the speaker wire I use to wire my subs, what size cables should I get? Also, I was told that for what I am upgrading to, I could keep my stock alternator and battery and just needed to upgrade the big 3. After reading an article I found on Crutchfield, it seems as if I should get a HO alternator and better battery. Can someone clarify this for me please? Here is the Crutchfield link.

I have also decided to make my own ported box for the kicker L7's. What is the optimal cubic feet to make the box allowing my subs to perform best. And when I make one big box for the subs, do I need to separate them it into two chambers with two ports? I'm not really sure how to build a box for 2 subs. Also, I have this head unit installed right now kdc-mp208. Will this be fine for running my system? I don't really know what specifications to look for in a head unit.
