Help With H.O Alt (Pontiac g6)

Hey guys, I purchased a DC power alt (270 Amp) but on mistake purchased the 3.9l Version one, and my car is actually a 2.4l echotech. i have contacted DC to ask what i could do and according to them, it would be around 200$ to re-case the alt to fit my car..now my other option is to give my alt to Mechman and they give me a 240 amp alt, and i have to also pay 100$. i don't really see a benefit in me having to pay for a alt of less power and give my own alt up also, my alt is worth 650$ give or take, and the mechman was around 499 i believe.. just curious what you guys think i should do, and is it possible to have the alt made to fit my car someway instead of going through all of this hassle?
