Help with fiberglassing kicks

I am looking for a site that shows how to fiberglass in kicks either from scratch or using the factory kick panels. Thanks!

as far as using the stock kick panels - just sand them up with some 20~40 grit paper, clean them real nice and pretend they are made of wood. MAYBE reinforce them from behind a little first (just sand the back and put a few layers of glass back there)

yea its really quite easy. once you do your first fiberglassing jorb, you can usually understand how the material will stretch without actually doing it and you can picture in your head what will look crappy and what wont.

just try not to make ANY sharp edges on anything (edit: UNLESS ITS FACTORY) and you should be off to a good start.

The only major concern that I have to overcome is the baffles. I do not have a router, so either will have to go buy one or come up with other genious idea.

thats all i do and they come out great.

i usually try to aim them about 3~5" in front of the OPPOSITE passangers chin twoard the window. but try whatever sounds best. just stick them aiming that way sitting in a blanket to soak up the backwaves and play them at low volume levels and aim them differently - AND SWITCH THE PHASE ON EACH SPEAKER, both (driverside+)(passangerside+), then (driverside+)(passangerside-), then (driverside-)(passangerside+) then (driverside-)(passangerside-).

basically just make both speakers hook up correctly to the amp, look at the terminals and hook them up like they should be. then listen for a while. then take the passanger side speaker, and flip the terminals so the speaker is "negative" and listen some more. then flip the driver side, and listen, then flip the passanger side and listen. and go back to what sounded the best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok guys, I decided to do a smaller project first. I took out my passanger side air bag and mounted my dvd player in the hole in a lexan box. but I have no cover for it so I figured I would make a face for it and possibly reconstruct the whole deal. I took the old cover, taped it off and sprayed it with WD40. Next I followed the sticky directions on fiberglassing regarding dixie cups, brushes with a stabbing motion, etc.. I took some fiberglass mat I got from cheeseburger on here, cut it into 5" strips, layed it, stabbed it and ended up doing 4 layers so far (differant directions). I will post pics tonight, so far so good. small project i agree. but please keep in mind I was the retard who glued his fingers to a GI JOE when I was 8 LOL

I'll let ya in on the way I have done them for years now. I usually leave the stock panel in place. But I don't actually glass the kicks to them. I cover the factory kicks with tape, foil, what have you. Once everything is done, I either attach the new kicks over top the factory using the original factory attachments if possible. Or I simply attach the new kicks to the factory kicks. Looks like they are built together. But if needed the custom kicks can be taken out with little to no repair to the existing factory kicks. Yeah, I just used mine as a mold for the bass, this way the wires running under tham have a lil room. Besides, I dont know how much longer I will keep this car.

Kind of an update on the airbag cover. After four layers of glass, I think it needs four more... It is much more flimsy than I thought it would be. So Wed. I will add four more then move on to the casing for the dvd player.
