help with 6X9 speakers sounding buzzy

I own a 2002 grand am with a stock monsoon stereo system. i bought 6X9 rockford fosgate punch series P1269 speakers, and about half the time they sound a little buzzy or crackly, almost like they are blown but they are not. i do not usually turn the music up all the way, but i do use maximum bass on the system. i was told that bass could not hurt these speakers because thats what i asked for when i went to buy speakers, anyone know what the possible problem could be?

the factory HU isn't giving clean power at high volumes especially since you have the bass turned up... in other words you're clipping your signal

^ I agree. Start with a new head unit. Even then you may still get clipping if you use full bass but you will definitley get a lot more out of your speakers.
