So i bought an 05 civic with 2 sets of polk momo 6.5 inch 2 way components, one set in front and one set in the rear. my question is what is the best way to go about wiring them to a 4 channel amp using a three way active crossover? can i wire all four tweets to 2 channels and four mids to the two rear channels? or am i totally off !!! what would you suggest is the best way to wire this system.

the entire system consists of pioneer avic n1, polk momo components front and rear, planet audio big bang 1250.1, PA bb300.4, PA bb12 inch 2 ohm dvc, planning on installing the planet audio three way crossover as soon as i figure out the best way to go about it. if you have any suggestions on installing that feel free to help me there as well. crossover points and such would be a great help. If anymore info is needed just let me know thanks

Normally when going active you'd use a 4 channel amp for 4 separate drivers.

Ergo: 1 channel would power one tweet after being processed by the crossover, another channel on would power a midwoofer, third channel would power the second tweet and then the last channel would power the second midwoofer....

so then you are saying that i cant run two sets of components off a four channel amp is it just something you shouldnt do or something i cant do without hurting something

you can do it perfectly fine.. the amp should tell you front-left from front-right and same for the rear. your 2 sets probably came with 4 crossovers, so each channel goes to the according crossover, and the woofer/mid is connected at the crossover. this is for passive though. active is like how prowler explained it.

yeah i perfectly understand how if i were using the passive crossovers, i was basically just asking would it hurt anything say if i put all four tweeters to two of the channels and all four mids to two of the channels. or should i just run the front set off the amp and the rear set off the headunit?

I dont understand why you are trying to go active with two component sets using a 3 way crossover. If you mean 3 way active meaning front, rear, and sub....then i would suggest ch1&2-front, ch3&4-rear, and subamp-sub. Connect all signal cables from HU to crossover then to amps and use the passive crossovers. Thats the only way i can see how thats gonna work, crossover needs to only be set to highpass components and lowpass the sub. If you want to do a traditional 3 way active meaning tweet, mid, and sub then you need to ditch the other component set and actively run the other with the sub. Hope this helped.
