OK, so i just recently popped my trunk with the volume up only to find my subs making a weird sound. It sounds like it's hitting wood, but i know thats not possible. What i had recently done was inverted the polarity, put the crossover level a little higher, and i believe my uncle raised the bass boost and gain on the amp. My dad said they are clipping and that i should turn it down.
I'm running a sledgehammer box with 2 mtx 8500s
The amp is an Absolute EVD 2200, wired at 4 ohms, that puts out 360w RMS, which is wayy less than what the subs can take. Oh, and my cross over is set at 130 hz cut off.
The only thing that comes to my mind is that i had to cut the box about 3 inches width wise in order for it to fit my trunk. Could it be that by making the box smaller the subs aren't getting as much air as they need to and started distorting?
