Help Wanted: Looking for recommendations

Hi I'm new to this forum even though I have been lurking around for a little while.

I currently have a 2000 honda civic coupe which is in need of a little assistance..

I currently have:

Headunit: Sony Xplod (Works ok for now)

Front Speakers: stock 6 1/2" (looking to upgrade shortly)

Rear Speakers: Clarion 6x9's (powered off the headunit, 75 watts rms)

Subs: A pair of cheap focal auditor 10’s in a sealed box

Subwoofer amplifier: Cadence XA400.1

300@4ohms

425@2ohms

I am looking for to upgrade my current subwoofer setup. I listen to mainly alternative rock, but I also listen to a variety of other genres including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rap, Techno, and Trance. I am looking for something that would get reasonably loud but still sound good. I would like to keep my current amplifier, I was thinking something like a single 12” or 15” in a ported box, but I haven’t had much experience with Sub’s in ported boxes playing Kick Drum (I like to be able to feel the kick in my chest, which I know is mostly mid-bass, but I know that’s not going to be able to happen off of my stock speakers, going to upgrade to a cheap 2/4 channel depending on what 6 ½’s I buy.) Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oh.. budget is roughly $175 for box and sub(s)

I like the price of the PG RSD12 for obvious reasons, but will it be able to get reasonably low and loud in ported box?

The orion looks awesome and the SSA has good reviews but is the RSD12 comparable to the other 2 (performance wise?)

out of the three choices mclerico gave you, i would suggest the ssa dcon. great sub that gets low and has good sq

the pg gets really low, it has been compared to the idmax. i have 2 in a camry on an orion hcca250

Just found out that a friend of a friend has the PG 12's so I'll be able to hear them monday.. Hopefully that will help me make a decision. I've read reviews on all 3 subs, I havent been able to find as much on the Orion, as I have the DCON and the PG's but all look to be good subs. Rather than just trusting the ears of others. I'll put my own to the test on monday, and hopefully help make my decision.
