Help w/ box for L5 12"

Out of all of the things I have done for my car as far as audio, this will be the hardest. I have never built a box for a sub before. Right now, I have a 06 Kicker L5 12" that needs a box and I have no idea where to start. I went to the website to get a the manual, but there were so many things on it.

I don't know if I should go ported or seal. Can someone just sketch me a box using 5/8 MDF?

Also, I see people tuning subs to different frequencies. How do you do that?
