Help troubleshooting hiss/white noise/static

Hey guys,

I finally got everything hooked up this past weekend and overall it sounds great. I had a faint white noise, hiss, static through my speakers that I tried to figure out last night and I just want some clarification on what I'm seeing.

I have Pioneer deh-7500 something head unit running to a Powerbass 700.5x 5 channel amp. The front RCA outputs on my head unit Power channel 1 and 2 which are my front dash speakers. Rear output are channels 3 &4 for my front door speakers. Channel 5 is the sub. I have the Knukonceptz Kolosus 4 gauge Power Wire and ground hooked up, ran brand new 16 gauge Speaker Wire from amp to speakers. I have the RCA cable that came with the wiring kit running the rca out for the sub, and bought knukonceptz 4 channel shielded RCA for the other 4 channels. power cable is ran down the drivers side, all of rca cables ran down the passenger side.

If I disconnect everything from the head unit except the front channel rca output, leave everything connected in the amp I can hear faint, distorted music out of the door speakers. If I use a the rca I had for the sub into the front channel output, leave the rear input plugged into the amp of the shielded rca I can hear music. If I disconnect the rca input from the amp, no music and no white noise/hiss/static. If I leave everything plugged into the amp, and swap the front channel input for a separate rca input plugged into my phone, music is clear and quiet. if I disconnect the rear channel inputs from the amp everything is clean and clear. If I disconnect the front input I have static, but not as much. Seems like the one pair inside that set may be the issue. I didn't swap them around, but may try later.

No alternator whine, hiss is present with Car running or Car off. No other noise. Adjusting the gains down helps a little, but doesn't stop it.

Seems to me that my "shielded" rca are picking up the signal and putting it into my amp to play. Would new separate shielded pairs help with this? Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

Well after trying to troubleshoot it testing different things, swapping out a new 4 set of RCA cables. I still have the same static. I don't get it. I ran the new RCA from the head unit straight back through the open to the amp and still have static. That rules out interference from the other rca cable, or other wiring in it's path through the door sill. Hook up only the 3.5mm jack rca cable and it's clear. I can't imagine it's the amp then. I don't have another pair of RCA cables long enough to just run those back.

Could be the pico fuse. Very common issue with pioneer radios. I did not read past you having a pioneer radio in the first post. Youtube or google the pico fuse problem and it will show you a simple easy fix of grounding the rca pre outs on the back of the radio

I didn't have any alternator whine or anything else that tends to point to the pico fuse.

I ran a new ground for the head unit to a solid piece of metal behind the dash. That seemed to have helped my noise. I previously had "loudness" on low on the head unit, turned that off and it cut almost the rest of the white noise. I am missing the lil more midbass that I had with he loudness, but maybe I can get that back after deadening the front doors.

Loudness and bass boost are a no no. Glad grounding your unit helped
