old system: alpine mrd-m501 and 2 12" alumapro

My new system.

Hifonics Brutus amp 1606 - 1600 watts rms @1 ohm

Diamond Audio 15" (D915D2) - 1000 watts rms Dual Core wired for @ 1 ohm

-----------------

JL Cleansweep

Kicker Amp 4channel ZX.650

a/d/s 346cs 6.5 component speakers

Diamond Audio 6.5 Hi End Coaxial D661i speakers

The shop just changed all my 8-gauge wires to 4-gauge because the 8-gauge could not handle the power that i needed. The shop told me i need to run 2 individual rca wires; they said i can't run one and split it because the Class D amp would interfere it, which is the reason why i have a WHINING noise as of now.

IN addition, they also told me they need to tune my system: jl cleansweep and the gains on both amp.

Also they'll tell me whats my maximum volume that i can play my system at before being in danger of blowing my sub. (the amp provides more than the sub can handle 1300-1500rms amp:1000 watts rms sub)

They'll charge me 150 for this.

1. add an additional rca wire and fix the whining noise

2. tune the system

3. let me know the max volume that i can play my system.

should i do it?

tell them you dont need new RCAs you just need to ground your RCAs which you can do by yourself... let them tune the cleansweep n shit cause i have no idea wtf or how that works that shouldnt be more than $50 max

buy a multi meter and set it yourself, it takes two minutes.

you probably have the whine because you have shitty grounds, or your alternator itself is causing it.

you should be running the pair of rcas to being with and they're just trying to screw you out of money.

You can do the bulk of the work yourself. From the Cleansweep owner's manual:

"To accomplish this complex feat, you simply load the supplied CleanSweep Calibration CD into the factory-installed CD player, set its volume control between 1/2 and 3/4 of maximum, play the designated calibration track and then press the "Calibrate" button on the top of the CL441dsp processor. Approximately 20 seconds later, the processor is finished analyzing and equalizing the factory-installed source's response and stores the corrections in non-volatile flash memory."

Sounds like a pretty simple process to me.

As for setting the gains, and knowing how loud not to turn up the volume, that is also easy to do yourself, especially if you have a multimeter. In the amplifier forum, there's a sticky on setting the gains properly.

For the multiple RCA's, I don't know if that's the problem or not. You may just need a better ground at the HU.

that your stupid for asking if you should waste $150
okay, i dont care if you say im stupid, but why dont you try to educate me like the other guys on the thread instead of being an *******...but nooo you guys are just dissing without giving me any advice.. thats why i said his post was pointless and so was yours.

It was another shop that made 1 rca wire. This shop is just fixing all the problems that the other shop caused.

--hm they double check the ground that the other shop did and they say it was a clean ground and a pretty good one too...they they cleansweep needs two individual rca wires versus one splitting into two..or something....i'll update you guys..

As for the tune, I thought it would be more difficult for me to tune it because of the jl cleansweep and plus the fact that my amp overpowers my sub by a lot so thats why i wanted a shop to do it...but since you guys say i can do it haha i'll read and study then try it out, thanks

well, I wouldn't pay them..

sounds like you're an enthusiast, but not a hobbyist.. you like the stereo system etc, but not the installation of it...

Id say pay em what they are asking, that way, if you explicitly follow their instructions, they should (if they are a reputable shop) fix anything that happens
