Help, system acting funny

My system has been out of commission for a while because my subs were no good and I just got my new ones in a couple weeks ago. I replaced the ground and power wire terminal, checked out all my wiring and hooked up my subs but for some reason they sometimes cut out at low volumes. When the volume is low the subs don't bass but when i start to turn it up they come back on. It is really weird...I don't think its an amp problem because it doesn't turn off or go into protect mode though. Could I have got deffective subs? Please help, thank you.

Sounds like an input sensitivity issue. What amp(s) are you using?

I'm using an mtx 600xd mono 2 ohm, and two jl 4 ohm 12's wired in parralel, I also set my gains using a dmm.

anyone? I've went over all my wiring and really can't find out whats wrong or why this is happening.
