I got an issue, in my buddys car, not sure exactly whats going on, but basically the amp is heating up to the point where u cant even rest ur hand on it. Annnnd I'm smelling burnt coils.

Heres the details on the set up

Kicker Hyperflex 0 gauge power cables

with 150amp fuse

Eclipse avn726e 5v preouts

Sundown SAE 1000D 3x25a fuses (gains arent all the way up)

15" Fi Q

... this isnt even from running it for long periods of time, it takes about 15 minutes to over heat and start smelling bad

I had the sundown pushing the fi in my car fine without any issues with this whatsoever

..any ideas?

No, I havent checked the voltage (I didnt do the install... just posting for the guy cuz he doesnt have an account)

The gains would have been my first guess, but they're not even close to all the way up. When I had it set in my car, I had the gains much higher

Make sure your amp is in a well ventilated area. You don't want to cover it with anything, or stuff it in to a little hole with no air flowing over it.

Also, make sure you set the gains properly. You should be able to tell what sounds good and what sounds bad by ear.

If you didn't set your gains correctly, it's more than likely the gain...

Use a DMM if you can't tell by ear. It would not matter at all where the gain was at when it was in your car, unless you're using the exact same head unit also.

check the voltage; still sounds like clipping; gain knobs dont have to be close to being all the way up to clip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

does he have stock electrical? no ho alt or a diff batt? then he is definately clipping
