HELP: Subs WAY too loud

just went over the thread again.... don't see it mentioned anywhere. btw, that looks like a home made box and the tuning is just set based on how deep the box is, so they wouldn't have to put an L in there. in my experience, a box about that size should have 6-10" of port running along the back wall to tune it right.

Headunit was mentioned.

But...OP needs to see this anyway.

Tonight when I am home I will take one of the speakers out and measure some spots on the box and let you guy know!

Everything sounds really good to me currently. But I really don't have anything to compare it to.

Hard to breathe from 2 12's?
That's it.

My Sundowns are going up for sale and gettin' me some Type R's........

What shop did your install?
It's called Car Tunes in Michigan.

My brother had his entire system installed there and so did my dad. My brothers has had zero problems after 7 years. My dad just had his installed so I can't tell you much. I know they're a pretty nice shop. They have some expensive prices on some of their products that you could definitely get online a LOT cheaper. But their installs are a reasonal price and they have been able to do everything for me that I need them to.

I uploaded two short videos.

One D&B song and a Wiz Khalifa song that has quite a lot of bass.

Just keep in mind that I turned my gain down 5 or 6 notches from what it was. I wasn't even able to turn my subwoofer level on my HU to 0 without it being too loud for me to listen to. I've obviously fixed that. I set it so level 8 is pretty **** perfect for just daily listening.

Sorta lame how much different it sounds through a phones mic. You can hardly hear the music in the videos lol. Trust me, you can hear what you're listening to when you have it turned up as loud as I did.

Maybe I should turn my gain back up and take another video to show how much louder they can get? Lol

be careful man. Here is some car audio common sense. If you turn it up, and its not getting any louder, you are at clipping/distortion point, back it off. You can easily blow your subs if you are not careful. Always monitor voltages, temperatures of amps and subs and keep your nose keen for that burning coil smell.

Yep someone told me that the other day. I haven't heard them get to a peak yet though. They seems to always be able to get louder.

Sounds like you need your door speakers amped.
They definitely need to be amped if I want to run my amp at a higher gain. When they had it set to its peak before the sub distortion you couldn't hear the music. Too much bass, lol.

pick up a nice class d 4 channel (even a cheap one like the ppi 900.4) and it'll make a huge difference. from the video it sounds like you're getting almost no vocals or highs, but that could be from the recording method.

if you do, fk 12s get a real upgrade and do an 18. Pretty sure you can sell your type R+ "custom" ported box for a decent sum on craigslist.

1 18 is not even going to be a noticeable upgrade to 2 12s. It only has like 30 square inches more of cone area.
