Help, Subs for hip hop and RnB????

Are the JL Audio 12w6v2, good subs for this type of music? Yesterday I went to a JL dealer, and he told me that the sub that I want isnt advised for this type of music, and that I should look to get something else. Is this true?

JL is good for anything man. For just Hip hop I always enjoyed Kicker... They **** for anything but SPL, or look at some Memphis Audio 15" 's...

For the original poster - W6v2's would be just fine for a rap/hip hop based system.
