i got 2 DVC 2 ohm kicker CVR 12's. the RMS is 400 watts. the amp i have will do 900 at 2 ohm. so when im setting my gain, what voltage should i look for on the DMM, and what setting should i put the DMM at. and what about the low pass filter and bass boost. i think it would be looking for 40 volts. if i do 800x2 and the sqrt of that to get 40 is that correct i look in the amp setting tutorials and the first post is deleted so theres nothing there. thanks in advanced.

heres the amp

id keep your HU sub setting up all the way when u set the gains so u dont turn it up louder afterwards and clip the signal. keep bass boost at 0, it sux anyways. since you got a kenwood id shoot for 40v cause chances are the kenwood is slightly overrated. and what kinda box u got? sealed or ported?

thanks for the reply, it is going into a sealed box for now.

alright so i got them installed they sound great. i want to set the gain tomorrow. can someone lead me in the right direction? i know that i download a test tone and play it. and then i have the DMM hooked up to the terminals on the amp and i turn up the gain until the desired voltage. do i leave the speakers not the subs, hooked up while the test tone is playing? also what setting should my DMM be at i tried it today and i could not get a reading? and last but not least which one is my gain the bass boost or the input sensitivity? or are they both? sorry for all the questions i just wanna do it right the first time thanks.

Disconnect the subs from the amp. If you are talking about your other speakers, there isn't much you can do about them unless they are on an amplifier. If they are amped, just remove the remote wire going to said amp.

Your DMM Should be set on Volts.

Input sensitivity is your gain.

DC Volts wont read anything

DC volts will make a nice spark show //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Correct, set it to AC volts.

my DMM just doesnt read anything. (-)V cancels out (+)V....

alright i tried it, but i had to turn the bass boost on the amp up so i could get my 40 volts reading with out maxing out the gain. does this sound wrong? is it bad if the bass boost it up on the amp? i had the DMM set a 200 ACV.

the input sensativity is at 1 on a scale of 0.2 being max and 4 being min. the bass boost is at 15 out of 18 and my subwoofer control on the HU is at 5 out of 15. does this sound about right? i just dont wanna blow my subs of amp.

oh and when i set my HU volume to 3/4 up to tune it, is that what i should play it at while im just lissioning to songs to get the full RMS that i wanted?
