Help selecting 8" subwoofers

Ok, I have a SEALED box for two eights with a COMMON airspace of 0.95 cubic feet. I also have a maximum mounting depth of about 4.5". The box is down-firing and I could make MDF spacers if need be, but that would put the subs very close to the floor of the truck. I will be able to provide them with about 200-225watts RMS each with two 4 ohm SVC subs.

I was looking at the AA Assassins, but they appear to be waaaaay too tall for my box. Any other suggestions that would work well with my specs?

I had two Pioneer IMPP (the old school ones with the Diamond Tread pattern on the cone). They sounded OK, but I just wasn't satisfied. They would vibrate your chest with the bassline in certain songs, but would sound "flappy or boomy" on other songs. I found myself constantly adjusting the EQ from song to song. I experimented with polyfill and found that I liked it better without any in the box.

well i know people on here are biased against jl because they tend to not want to pay for it but the 8w3v2's soud good for your setup the box is slightly larger than ideal but you'll be good running 200 watts to them.. if you half to a little polyfill should make the extra airspace un detectable and still keep you safe with the power

Resonant engineering RE8's have a mounting depth of 4 inches, and though they say 175watts they can handle 200 each.

you read my mind! I been thiking the same thing ...... I found the CVR8 200 watts RMS for 59.00 bucks on olinecarstereos or sonix the mount dep is 6 1/8 I think you better look at those plus they have them in 2 and 4 ohms dual voice coil

bump for 8w3's. If you want something with more excursion the arc 8"s have about 15mm..

Will the re- 8 take more than 200w? Anyone running more? Also how much space should I leave between the back of the magnent and the box.

The 1000 has more xmax and a stronger motor....big deal when doing sealed boxes.

I know not alot of people on here like eD, but we have 4 9kv.2's in a car running off about 1400 watts and they sound very nice, awesome SQ and good sound!
