Help replacing the Alpine Type X

Just sold a Alpine type x 12. I had it in a ported box 2 cu ft tuned to 33 hz. Got loud enough, but sound quality was not what I expected. Anyways, I sold the sub and box. Now I need to replace the type X and need advice-

I am debating between:

JL 10w7 ported or JL 12w6v2 ported.

I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1 amp (birthsheet 812 watts at 4 ohms).

Open to other ideas for subs as well, but I recently tried a buddy's 8w7 ported on my amp and was impressed so i am leaning towards JL. If you could compare spl/ sq etc that would be great. Thanks guys-

I would definitely go with the W6. I have heard many of each and the W6 sounds better and gets louder ported. The W7 is more of a showpiece than a sub in my opinion.

So you think the W6 ported would get louder than the w7 ported? What if the W7 was a 12?

x is much better sealed and i have heard a w6 before(whitemax on the forum)and I could honestly say it sounded no better than my ID10V3,even though his was a 12 and mine's a 10.i know this sub is legendary for SQ I personally wouldn't pay for 1.Did you ever try the x sealed

Nope never tried the X sealed. I drive an 3 series BMW and the trunk is super sound deadened and it is hard to get bass into the cabin, so I need the gain from the ported box.

IDMAX 10" 12" ported or sealed. For "SQL" that is the sub of choice with the power you have.

Listen to what these guys are telling you. The W6 gets real loud. They were way louder than what I expected, but that guy was running 1000 watts of Zapco power on each one. If you really want to be loud, the HDC312/HDC310 is a cheaper option than what you are looking at.

In my experience with Type X's is they are More SQ subs that SPL. what i think may get you more SQ out of it is if you tune it to around 35-36hz. You will get the SPL and SQ you need outta it

Dude,what answer are you waiting on?Everybody says the same thing about those 2 woofers

They will say 1. the w6 is one of the best sounding woofers period etc. etc. etc.2. the w7 is great blah blah blah but it's so expensive .So if you want 1 go buy 1
