Your paper should be based around your thesis. Every sentence should be aimed at proving your argument. Your point is what you're arguing. Your thesis is your point.
Don't use this without developing it more, but:
"Ghandi's strategies represented effective means for accomplishing his goals of blah blah blah."
Then each paragraph could potentially examine different strategies, ideas, whatever, used by Ghandi. Each paragraph should be directed towards demonstrating your thesis, that those strategies represented effective means to achieve his goals.
