Help pls! power keeps kicking off!!

Hey all, I'm hoping somebody who knows more then me (not saying much) would be able to help me out here. I just got a new car and am in the process of hooking it up. I just put in my sony cd player from my other car and all the component speakers. Problem is when I turn up the volume to a mid-high / high volume the unit shuts off!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif it then tries to come back on, but if I dont turn it down it will turn back off again and so on. I'm guessing its just a little oopsie I forgot somewhere but before I jack up my car more I thought you guys could help!! Thanks!

Sounds like you've got it on a circuit that's got a breaker..as in, it's drawing too much power at higher levels and the breaker cuts to stop the over-draw. I'd re-check all your wiring.

no not really ... if they were to small theyd heat up like shit and burn up ... but if that were the case it wouldn't come back on, unless they get real hot and cuse enuf resistance that it turn's off.

I think it's more along the lines of perhaps an intermediant diode maybe, perhaps some type of breaker. but i would dubt the wire size, By all means if you can upgrade your power / ground wire cuse it will help no matter what //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah but if it were a fuse .. if it poped it wouldn't come back on till it was replaced. hmm try this man take the HU out, so you can acces the wires, put a voltage meter on the main power wire, turn it up and when it turns off measure the voltage, then tell us what it was.

Could it possibly be something to do with the ground? I'll be the first to admit I'm a half assed learn by destroying kind of guy and when I was hooking up the head unit I wasnt quite sure which was the ground (from the car) I just picked the only black wire left and went with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Yeah, I have issues..... Oh and unfortunately I have no voltometermajig.... keep dem ideas rollin though.... I know that the guy that had the car before me had a system in it, so I would imagine the car would be ok, probably just one of my f-ed up install tactics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif thanks!
